Vegan Corn and Black Bean hash: The Wallflower Modern Diner Review

Its Vegan MoFo!!! That's the Vegan Month of Food. Its my first post for it ever. Yah. Now its gonna be a month of food, food and more food.

Today I went for breakfast at the Wallflower on Main st. I've been wanting to check this place out for a while now. Its very unique in that it has a full regular menu, gluten free menu and vegan menu! Love that. So no matter what you like, they got it.

I had the Corn and Black Bean Hash. It had tons of veggies, potatoes, onions, tofu and salsa with a side of multigrain toast sans butter.
Looks so good right? I've had a lot of tofu scrambles in my vegan days. This one has good and not so good points.

Good: lots of veggies which were cooked perfectly. Especially important for zucchini. It was not mushy. Phew.
Good: Freshly made salsa. YUM!!!
Good: Black beans. Nuff said.

Not so good: Not a whole lot of flavour. They need to add a little bit more spices to it. That being said, I hot sauce the shit outta my food so I didn't notice after I took the first bite. lol

Tomorrow is the Taste of Health fare down at the Roundhouse. Come! It should be fun. Demonstrations, talks, samples oh my!

  1. I've had this dish and I agree with your review - not enough flavour at all! Slickity Jims has a waaaay better tofu scramble.
